Need help from u XD #1

Hi, Margi! I am sorry for the way that I contact u...But it is the only way for me to leave msg for u---in the "issue". Here is Haonan, I already received an offer of data engineering. But I am still considering it because I am not familiar with the program. So I get some questions, could u help me answer them?

  1. Could I do researches on NLP in the university?
  2. Could I find any professors who could give me advice on NLP researches?
  3. How do you feel about the master's program?

Hey! Data Engineering is such a new topic, that I'm sure the programs vary immensely. My program at Jacobs University was very theoretic with more math and less hands on application. I do not regret my choice, but I would not recommend this University. It is quite unorganized and I imagine they are having a lot of problems getting classes to be remote nowadays. But, if you like the idea of learning the mathematical side of things, there are good professors.

Thank you, Margaret! That helps me a lot! In my opinion, the mathematical side is important for those machine learning algorithms. Maybe it is a good idea to study at the program if I want to do a job related to data science. May I ask another two questions?

  1. How is the career opportunity for graduate students from this program?
  2. Is there anyone moves on to a Ph.D.?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I want to know more about the program before making a decision. Thank you again for your patience.

I actually haven't gotten a job yet, but the corona virus is probably affecting my prospects. It seems like my colleagues are doing well in their careers. There are a lot of PhD students at Jacobs, so there is most likely options for you too.

The virus affects many things...I have a similar situation as you. I could not find an internship in my city either. Thank you for your answer and hope everything could be fine~ Good luck!
