7 years ago Hi, I cannot download the attached file. Could you please paste the actual error in the log? Also, how big is the machine you're installing this in? I see there's a timeout there which could be due to not enough resources.

7 years ago Hi, the used system is SUSE 12 SP1 for SAP, 4 Cores, 32GB RAM on Azure Cloud (A4m_v2). hdblcmlog.xlsx
I think it's these parts in the error log hdblcm.log. I also attached the log as xlsx, maybe this works (row line 1923).

This is the same installation command that failed with the "-t 1800" parameter that extends the timeout period. Before that, you can also check the xs error log in case there is some other explanation for the timeout in there. From your own log, the command would be: xs display-installation-logs 2919 -scv

7 years ago Hi Lucia, this solved the problem, thank you very much! I had to reinstall HANA cockpit and WebIDE manually as well and now apps are running.
I have now another issue with authorization when logging in to HANA cockpit with XSA_ADMIN but need to make some research first. The user does only have "Public" role, seems to me that something is missing.

7 years ago There is an hxe_optimize.sh script that you should run after all installation has been done. It will grant the space roles to xsa_dev and xsa_admin. You can also do this manually with xs set-space-role but the script does other things too.

7 years ago I tried to run the script but ge the following error during the process:
Login to XSA services... Misalue for option API_URL Cannot login to XSA services. Please check HANA has started and login/password are correct.

7 years ago Hi, please use the community Q&A for this kind of questions as this is for issues in the tutorials, not technical problems and there are more people there to help. I cannot find what is throwing that error but it looks like something else went wrong before that based on the previous message. You can try to manually execute the steps in the script and see what exact part is throwing that error so as to have a basis for troubleshooting an post that in the community (though I personally would start the installation again as it generally takes less time).

This is not the right place for it and there are more people to help there than just the authors of tutorials. When you do, please add the history of what you installed and where (there are plenty of flavors of HXE, is this a VM? is this a Google Launcher version? binary installation somewhere else? is this the last piece of the HXE XSA installation script?), what error messages you got before that and include any logs that may be of use in there. 6 years ago @rafdre , you seem to be trying ti install a very old version of those MTAs and the path was in a response to the original post, so the path in your case may not be the same. The error log will give you the command that failed, including the installation path that was used

As for the API log in, to specify the endpoint you can use something like

6 years ago Hello Lucia, thanks for your reply. I am not sure I am installing something old , unless what SAP provides on official page is old. What I did is: I strictly followed the advice given on the page for HANA Express. I downloaded SLES 12 SP2 for SAP and installed it on my PC. First thing I noticed is that SLES has own wizard for SAP installation. On the desktop I found "SAP Installation Wizard". The script for installation is provided by SLES, but this is SAP script. I assume that what I downloaded with HANA express is something newer, so I decided to use the BASH script setup_hxe.sh instead of SLES wizard. Everything I downloaded is new. If you still thing its old version, where do I get new one? Can you please provide a link ?

Assigning Additional Roles to the Local Host failedThe error is different than described above, but I found this page in the hope it gives me an idea how can I re-trigger installation of HANA Express at the point where I ended. I installed few SAP systems in the past and I know that for each installation I was able to continue where I stopped. Here in HANA Express system I am missing this option. Is there any? I could not reuse 'setup_hxe.sh' (unless I check script details and try to understand the steps inside it). Of course I did partition image using DD so could start again from scratch, but I am afraid I will stop at the same point.
I don't think the page you provided gives me an answer to my questions. Document "Getting_Started_HANAexpress_Binary_Installer.pdf" is also not detailed enough. It assumes that installation goes without issues. cheers R.

6 years ago OK, so this is unrelated to the original issue. First you are saying you cannot log in with CLI because you are not entering the proper URL (the error makes total sense and you need to use xs login -a https://hxehost:39030 or provide https://hxehost:39030 for the API_URL endpoint when prompted as I said before).
Then you are trying to deploy an mtar and it fails (without providing the logs for that failed command or why you think the product installer is related to the endpoint error). Not sure what the question is, whether you are trying to resume installation or login to the instance or how the errors are related, but this belongs in the Q&A and not here.
I would also suggest you post all the relevant information when you post a question to the community.

6 years ago the question is : how can I start installation where I ended. It seems not to be described in any help files I found.
I came to this post and I though what you described ("You can try to override the timeout and do a manual installation.") is kind of solution.
Do you know if and how can I continue installation where I ended?

6 years ago Yes, but manually at that point (before the XSA installation starts, it can continue from where it left off by just restarting the script). You would need to look for the last command within the script and take it from there. I personally choose to solve the error that originated the stop, do hdblcm to uninstall and start again in these cases unless I'm certain that the manual steps are just a few, which does not seem like your case.

6 years ago I did what I think was the quickest and simplest solution: I restored whole system from image using DD command and started the process again. The only thing I changed was hostname (this time is called 'hana'). To my surprise installation process went much further and this time I stopped at this:

Installation of SAPUI5 FESV3 XSA 1 - SAPUI5 SDK 1.44 failedI found the log /var/tmp/hdb_HXE_hdblcm_update_2017-11-21_19.36.28/hdblcm.log and there it was something like this:

I managed to resume the installation with command:

To end this whole topic I have few comments:

Unpacking Node.js archive..Why it cannot be done once I do not know. If several parts of the whole solution is using node.js, then why it cannot be stored once and reused
