Note that there are two possible locations for mods:
<eu4_directory>/mod
<documents>/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/mod
These locations may not be valid on other operating systems (eg, OS X probably puts them under ~/Library
)
< eu4_directory >/mod has stopped being a valid location for mods for quite some time and will cause issues in-game if used (relevant only for EU4 and CK2 modders). It's a vestigial organ of the Clausewitz engine and I wouldn't rely on people actually using those. Additionally Steam will always install the mods in Documents as a result there-of.
You should look into this though for OSX and Linux though, as I can't confirm for those but to the best of my recollection the community of my mod has said the same thing for at least OSX
Oh okay, thanks. I wasn't aware of that, and was just going off my memory from EU4.
Surely the OS X version doesn't put things in ~/Documents
, though? That would go against the Apple guidelines as I remember them (I would have expected something like ~/Library/Application Support/Paradox Interactive
).
I'll definitely give it a look.
Add a
mod
key to the settings file, and then preferentially search for needed files in the mod folder.
