Before setting the mail server using your Gmail account, please follow the below steps: Go to the ‘Settings’ screen of your Gmail account Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP Click on "Enable IMAP" radio button to enable IMAP access Save the changes Click on https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and click on "Turn On" radio button to provide access to Sentrifugo to send emails through your Gmail account.

iotappsvilla commented 7 years ago

facing the same issue please help me resolve that image

sapplica commented 7 years ago

Hi,

@iotappsvilla Kindly try providing the value as 'TLS' in the field 'Secure Transport Layer' in step 4 of the installation process. Thank you!

ghost commented 7 years ago

There is something odd either in the method that you use or something. I have been trying to sort this out without luck. Another thing that I noticed is that you have three instances of PHPMailer. The one I checked dates back from 2013.

Why not upgrade the PHPMailer class and use a single one instead of having three PHPMailer folders with the same content? =/

sapplica commented 7 years ago

Hi,

@eljaunis Thank you for showing interest in our product! We are using the first instance of PHPMailer before the installation process of the application and the second instance of PHPMailer is used in the application framework.

ghost commented 7 years ago

I am not able to make it past this step.

I tried SSL, TLS, 465, 587. My credentials are fine and IMAP is enabled in my Gmail as well as "allow non-secure apps"

When I click "Confirm" the wheel keeps spinning forever until I get an error message.

Is there an easy code add that I can use to have some verbose logging in a file? I can't see logs anywhere either.

sapplica commented 7 years ago

Hi,

@eljaunis Kindly provide us a screenshot of the issue you are facing in step 4 of the installation process. Thank you!

nitikainfo commented 7 years ago

Same problem as everyone else. Tried using gmail instead of our own email account. Made sure that credentials are correct, IMAP enabled and allow non-secure apps. Tried port 587 and 465. Where is the log file I can tail so that I can try to debug this. Here is the screenshot

Apparently Google has changed their security. In addition to allowing less secure apps. and IMAP there is a third step. After many days of trying I received an email from Google saying that an account was trying to access using my credentials but since it geographically wasn't near me they were blocking it but I could specify that it was me. I did so and then the install began to work for me.

Hello I am having a peculiar issue here. I am trying to use the forgotten password and I receive an error as below:

image

I also noticed I cannot change the mail settings when I go to setting on the admin settings. It gives me an "Invalid Parameters" error immediately I save changes and then reverts to the previous settings.

hrdiistedu commented 7 years ago

I'm having the same issue. It says invalid parameters when I use gmail. When I use the actual e-mail address it freezes and goes to a 500 internal server error. screen shot 2017-04-26 at 11 41 27 am

In case you have gmail with 2 factor authentication:

  1. Generate app password here
  2. Complete form with info below

Authentication Type: True Username: your.username@gmail.com Password: password_generated_in_step_1 SMTP Server: smtp.gmail.com Secure Transport Layer: ssl Port: 465

have you changed the code $mail->SMTPDebug = 0; with $mail->SMTPDebug = 1;? and have you used google app password instead of your orignal password?

Hi,

Im also having the same issue. I have tried my gmail and enabled imap but didnt work. I switched to to my godaddy email and still the same. I hosted the sentrifugo to my existing godaddy hosting and under a subdirectory of one of my domains. Is there anything else I need to change?

blckhwk commented 6 years ago

use different port instead of port 25, if you are using SSL use port 465 if TLS/STARTTLS use port 587

neoscythe commented 6 years ago

I already tried every port ssl or tls and nothing works. Is there something in the php that needs to be changed?

I am not able to make past this step #4

I tried SSL, TLS, 465, 587. My credentials are fine and IMAP is enabled in my Gmail as well as "allow non-secure apps"

When I click "Confirm" the wheel keeps spinning forever until I get an error message. I have tried each and everything i can say.

I am hosting this on GoDaddy server. Kindly guide me as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance
