Maybe you could integrate BurnOut (https://sourceforge.net/projects/burnout/) functionality to achieve this? It is recommended for detecting copy protection by Redump anyway.

Unfortunately, BurnOut seems to be abandoned by the original developer.

Thanks. I've never used the Visual Basic, but I can refer to ProtectionFind.vb.
