iNdependence 1.2.5 OpenSSH install + Installer.app OpenSSH install are conflicting #170

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What I do were uninstall the SSH from iNdependence 1.2.4 and install the
openSSH from
iNdependence 1.2.5......

Now I can only use the SFTP to connect to the iPhone. File transfer between my
Mac and iPhone was
fine.

Also, SSH login fine, but everytime I enter 'any' command (ex. ls, cd), the
connection will closed.....

Please anyone can tell me how to fix.

Thanks

Fixed by reinstalling the BSD subsystem.

Also... anybody wants to upgrade the iNdependce to 1.2.5 must be warned!

Warned about having to reinstall the BSD System?

I make no guarantees about compatibility between iNdependence and Installer.app
since I don't use it.

However, now that I take a look at the list of files Installer.app uses for
it's OpenSSH installation, I can see what
the problem is. I'll try to figure out a way to resolve this.

For now, just pick one or the other to install (either the Installer.app
version or the iNdependence version, not
both). As long as one of them is installed and working, then iNdependence will
be able to use it.

I picked iNdependence version (1.2.5), and i still cant SSH into iphone with
Fugu or
Cyberduck, customization in iD keeps giving me error message when I try to
install
ANYTHING into my iphone

this is the message:

Failed
Couldn't connect to SSH server. Ensure IP address is correct, phone is
connected to a network, and SSH is installed correctly.

Just downgraded back,
iD's open ssh doesnt work with 1.0.2 either. therefore its not letting me SFTP
with
fugu either. Op: I had to activate twice in 1.2.5 inorder to activate my 1.0.2
iphone.

Resolution:
I had to go with installer's BSD and Open SSH. Everything works again... except
im
still stuck with 1.0.2 firmware.

how do i install installer.app onto my iPhone when i've got 1.1.1? i've already
jailbroken it using iNdependence

Original comment by msilver1...@gmail.com on 23 Oct 2007 at 12:31

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
try installing SSH from iNdependence, then use the customize tab to install the
installer.app

This didn't work for me, supposedly it should, lets see if it does for you.

So I tried to get this to work, and still can't get open ssh to work with my
phone.
I know i have connection and everything is right. The weird thing is the
time-out of
the pre-1.1.1 varies greatly. sometimes it goes for a while then sometimes iD
shuts
me right out saying its can't connect to SSH.

So im still stuck in 1.0.2. Is open SSH and BSD sub working for people from
installer app? Or should I remove both of those and try open SSH from
independence?
I'm dying to get this to work.

Did you remember to turn your phone off (slide to turn off) and NOT reboot
during the
ssh install? If not, install it again.

I could never get iNdependence to work. iJailBreaker worked. iJailBreaker gives
instructions to use the "slide to
power down." Try using the slider with iNdependence.

Used iNdepedence 1.2.5 to get a 1.1.1 iPhone with SSH. Installed installer.app
but
cannot get BDS Subsystem 1.5 to install. Gives me an "Error - Package download
failed!" Any help?

I had a 1.0.2 and used old version of iNdep. to activate it and install SSH..
worked perfect with all 3rd party
apps. after apptapp install.. Yesterday i upgraded to 1.1.1 with iNdep. with
pre-1.1.1 and also activated it
with iNdep. everything runs fine. But then i wanted to install SSH again (which
says install success after the
two reboots) so i could get installer.app into the phone but i cant connect. no
matter what i do. and i know
the connections are how they should be..

Also. i did not unlock my iPhone yet, not in 1.0.2 and not in 1.1.1.. so virgin
baseband or what its called...

Anybody kno w a solution to the SSH problem? or do we wait for iNdep. upgrade?

Hello everybody !
Apart from SSH connection problem due to the conflict between iNdependence and
Installer, There is a very
tricky point, that i can't solve, even after having spent hours in many english
or frenchforums :

If our iphone is in 1.1.1, how could it be possible to install "Installer" ?
because Installer is supposed to be
install on a 1.0.2 iPhone....

And how to understand/consider "Installeur V3" : it's a version design for
iphone 1.1.1 but it is just an update,
that requiered "Installer" to be installed... CRAZY, isn't it ?????

If anyone as a solution....

clarkaime:

1. Download AppTapp installer from here:
http://www.nullriver.com/~zigzag/AppTappInstaller.zip

2. Unzip the AppTappInstaller.zip file

3. If you are on a Mac, right click on AppTapp Installer.app and select Show
Package Contents. Then go to
Contents --> Resources. You will see a Installer.app. Transfer this
Installer.app using iNdepedence to your
phone.

or

If you are on Windows/Linux, open a command prompt or shell prompt. Then:
cd AppTapp Installer.app (this is just a directory/folder)
cd Contents
cd Resources
You will see a folder/directory called Installer.app. Transfer this to your
iPhone.

problem with ssh from independence is easely solved by this routine... instal
ssh, change or not password, then
go to fugu or cyberduck and open connection... leave the program open and then
go to independence and do the
pre 1.1.1. upgrade or what you are up to. after upgradeto 1.1.1, do usual
jailbreak and as mr. changrenyong
advise transfer apptapp on the phone using independence or cyberdack-fugu in
applications folder. start
installer and update to version 3, install bsd, go to independence delete ssh,
restart and install open ssh from
installer.

Bought an iphone october in the States, it was still 1.02. Upgraded to 1.1.1
and than used iNdependence 1.25
and anySim 1.1 After the second try everything (youTube, Bluetooth, Wifi,
Battery lasts long, etc.) worked and
is still perfect. I removed anySim and installed Fugu. Exchanged the
M68AP.plist (using phone in germany),
the calendar changed, suddenly I had contacts next to itune and some words are
in german. Have not
installed any other programm yet

Now I want to install Installer.app. The tip is to remove SSH.
So do I have to use iNdependence 1.2.5 if I want to work on my phone or can I
use 1.3.1?
Is there a difference in using iNdependence 1.2.5 or 1.3.1 concerning SSH?
In iNdependence 1.3.1, I can remove SSH, SFTP and SCP. Should I do that that
before installing Installer app.
and how can I be sure that it got deinstalled?
Do I need SFTP and/or SCP or does both get installed once I install
Installer.app?

To diego.jacome
my brother had the same thing.
he just left the phone off for 3 days,
powered it up battery was timed.
It took:
6 hours 13 min. 12 sec. to drain.
I don't know if this will work for you.
