Can it be updated to 2.2.8. They promised to fix it in 2.2.9

18472 is scheduled for 2.2.9, so yes, this is still broken in 2.2.8. Reapply patches to 2.2.8.

The PR for 2.2.8 merged. Should be possible to upgrade
