Ah, great addition. I just compared Fist II with real hardware and on my 8580 it sounds even lighter than the lightest settings - but that may be because VICE defaults to 6581? May there should be an option for sidmodel?
I am sort of tempted to leave the setting at lightest because then at least you don't get the noisy sound - but it's probably because I am more used to the 8580 these days.
Agreed. The form of this should be the same as with PAL/NTSC: preference for ANY/UNKNOWN case followed by forced 6581 and forced 8580. It can be added with no changes required in vice itself, just some work on VICEPlugin. I'll do it at some point.
Regarding the talk on the bug about some songs sounding poor, I added a setting. Follin music should be played with the "Lightest" setting most likely (test the lightning strike sound at Ghouls'n'Ghosts) while Hubbard and Galway like the "Light" setting.
Jeff's music like Hard Track should be best with the "Dark" setting.
Most HVSC music should work best with a light/normal setting. There perhaps ought to be a compromise setting between the two, but I'm not sure.
