Sort out books in appropriate order in shelves #741

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.I decide to download my phone bills_These files are scanned into ebookdroid
library alltogether
2.Files are sorted by modification date or alphabetical order
3.I can't modify order and place january first, then february, & so on !!!!!
They are of course named after my phone company, plus invoice, plus name of the
month concerned, then year....

What is the expected output?
I expect to sort books in shelf as I would in a real shelf, and find quickly
what I want without reading titles one by one, ranking first all of my
invoices, from most recent to less recent, then all contractual data, then new
offers documentation, and so on... in the shelf named after my mobile
operator.Which I can't achieve using either of the 2 existing options...

What do you see instead?
Lots of miscellaneous files, titles of which I have to read more or less
thoroughly in order to identify my books, my invoices in unappropriate order,
in the middle of other files concerning my mobile operator contract or other
operator related information.

What version of the product are you using?
v2.1.6

On what operating system?
Android 4.1.2

What device are you using?
Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-N8000

Please provide any additional information below.
I love ebookdroid concept, and find it really beautiful, smart, as well as
simple to use and efficient. Which is why I would love to rely on it as a
convenient ordering system for my files. Files searching and ordering is for me
major weakness in my android user experience. And if I could deal with One such
library to sort out and search among all of my files, sorted out after themes,
and not whether I downloaded them or wrote them myself or copied them from the
web, I would consider it a major improvement of the Android system, that would
real upgrade, compared to windows.
However, I think for this type of use, we should create several libraries into
the big one, THEN the scrolling among shelves, unless any other new mean could
prevent me from scrolling forever among so many shelves, that I would love to
order the same way as for books, by personnal priority, not alphabetical order
only, 'cause exactly the same disorder is created among shelves, same process
as for books...

Thank you for your work,
Cordial Regards.

If you constantly need to open your files, I would recommend you to rename them
so they go in desired order f.e. "1. First file.pdf", "2. Second file.pdf", "3.
Third.pdf" and so on. Also do organize your library by Folders. EBookDroid
create individual shelf for each folder with books that he finds during
scanning.

I think that time spent on renaming is equal to the time spent on manual
reordering.

Thank you indeed for answering very quickly and paying attention to my
request.

I am also conscious that some changes in code can represent massive amount
of redaction, for users' additionnal comfort, and not everybody have an
extensive use of apps.

As I previously mentionned, I AM such a big fan already, of these beautiful
handy shelves.

May I mention however, I HAVE of course my files ordered in folders, but,
as in any ordered real or virtual desk, my folders contain folders
originally, which are all messed up and open when I open ebookdroid library.

And I am thanking you for the numbering tip, I WILL use really and this
will really relieve me of a burden, so thank you.

May I last mention renaming is incredibly longer than moving items if you
keep in mind that android system is displayed on tablets or phone screens
with virtual small clumsy on-screen keyboards, that we use the best we can ?

Again thank you so much for answering so quickly, and for the work
dedicated to this charming elegant helpful library you created.

Please be assured of how precious your work is, in a world wide effort to
get in touch with technological success.

Best regards.
