Filenames for talks #2

The colons and special characters are playing havoc as I try to migrate this to netlify. Could you quickly remove the special chars?

Invalid filename 'talks/17:55 - R use cases/2 - Kate Ross-Smith: How can I get everyone else in my organisation to love R as much as I do?.pdf'. Deployed filenames cannot contain # or ? characters

If you could remove :, #, and ? that'd be fab

Hey @stephlocke, why would we want to move this page to netlify from GH pages -- where it has been working just fine for the past ~1.5 years and no updates are expected at all? I mean I understand that it will be great to have future events' sites on netlify, but this event happened more than a year ago and I'm really not sure why would we want to port it now.

stephlocke commented 6 years ago

I'm gonna port everything so I can move the domain name and SSL it

stephlocke commented 6 years ago

If it isn't quick to amend the URLs - no worries, I just couldn't even git clone it on my windows machine. I'll just need to spin up my linux subsystem but was hoping you'd have thing easily to hand.

daroczig commented 6 years ago

I'd suggest leaving this site as is -- some might have hardcoded URLs to the slides on other homepages or tweet posts etc. AFAIK we are using Cloudflare, so enabling SSL is a single click of a button on any (sub)domain there. Anyway, if you really want to migrate it, I can do the updates in the holiday break next week.

Example of URLs pointing to the slides with current names: https://conf.rweekly.org/satrday-budapest-2016

FTR the DNS seems to be down :(

stephlocke commented 6 years ago

Fixed the URLs and domain - current problem I have is writing the redirects because of all the spaces in the urls https://www.netlify.com/docs/redirects/

daroczig commented 6 years ago

@stephlocke the DNS seems to be still down :( Can you please have another look?

Honestly, I'd be happier if we would just leave this old site as is -- not risking screwing things up.

D'oh - i forgot we didn't have 2016 in the CNAME. Fixed now
