The js folder is a lay over from the first site (which I think was jekyll based) and used paper.js to have a funky triangle effect from the cursor over the header.
While it was neat, it lead to very long load times, and also wasn't particularly exciting if the device was a touch screen.
During the migration of jekyll to Hugo this effect was removed from being called, but the source files were retained, as honestly at the time I didn't understand them.
I'm now confident that these aren't actually called at all anymore and are part of the cruft of this project, so can be cleaned safely knowing they're in the git histroy if needed.
