What is the behaviour you observe?

  1. Select 'Game Start' in the main menu.
  2. Press Start button when 'Insert Coin' starts flashing.
  3. Press Start button on the 'Push 1 Player Button' screen.
  4. A short FMV will play with 'Get Ready' flashing over the top, and then the game may hang in this state: blackscreen.png

If this does not occur, perform a soft-reset and repeat steps 1-4 until the behaviour is observed.

What is the behaviour you expect?

Game never freezes when running the same disc image (converted to CDI format) on Phoebe ODE.

Was able to repro this on FW 160 (production/release version) and MNU 67. It happened the very first time I tried, and happened basically every other time I died and restarted the game. Often, as you die or advance to the next "stage", the game will hang in the same state as the png in the OP.

Funny enough, I found myself randomly watching a review of the Satiator by Game Sack, and he experienced the same bug on (presumably) FW156 MNU64 based on what we can see in the video. You can see the bug here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueLPPKb2fQQ&t=600s

I think he mentioned that the old compatibility spreadsheet had it listed as "working", but that could be because the person who tested it did not actually play the game, just tested to see if it would boot.
