The UI/UX might get a little hinky if one tried to support collection/group/pool-level formatting options, given that one could fling production from something that was an overall production amount to something that was a per-minute production amount & vice-versa.
Having a global setting and allowing the end-user to be cognizant of which of their own production chains are overall vs. per-minute when they use one document for both types should be a good balance.
Maybe implement it as a dropdown:

upm
p/m
etc.
will note: meters cubed shorthand isn't intended to be added unless a lot of people clamour for it (re: personal philosophy of referring to all per-minute production as "upm" (units per minute) so one doesn't have to be cognizant of 1 unit of water actually being 1000 water.
