There's an interesting problem with tape numbering and tape number labelling.
At the moment I'm using comments:
eg:
[% Tape 11 002011 started] •2544_3168•
With a timestamp - it seems relevant to record when people start and stop tapes. This might be analytically relevant in some cases. There are also cases where the tape runs out, and cases where the BNC transcribers label tape stops and tape starts where if you listen, the audio clearly runs on.
There needs to be some consistent way of labelling;
when the participants stop the tape
when the tape runs out
when the tape keeps running
But there should still be some mention of where BNC transcribers originally segmented the audio into separate 'conversations' because this might be useful for later re-alignment.
At some point a full listing of these kinds of events with some kind of coding structure will be necessary. For the moment probably best to go at it ad-hoc then try to figure it out when we've got a full listing.
