Does it need parentheses around the year, Murray (2015)?

I'd say no since it's already inside parentheses and my understanding is that the recommended practice is

because this is true (Author YEAR)

or

as described in Author (YEAR)

I think it's (Author, YEAR) in which case the way to do it would be a library for Bayesian inference (see <http://libbi.org> and Murray, 2015 <doi:10.18637/jss.v067.i10>, for more information)
