[Question] Version Status #689

Just wanted to stop by and see if there was a plan for the timeline on the next release. I noticed that the milestones feature is not used on this repository, so I wasn't really sure what was still planned and what wasn't for the next version of SB++. I'm very happy that progress is still being made, but I'm just curious what the plans are moving forward with this, as I love the project, and am very excited for the numerous bug fixes and changes that have already been implemented.

Is there any chance one of the project authors can answer this for me? It would be greatly appreciated! I'm sure you guys get questions a lot on when the next version will be done, so this isn't what I'm asking. I'm just more curious on the plans so I know roughly what I'm looking at. :)

Thank you for your time, and for your hard work too!

Here's a meta thread regarding the current direction: https://forums.alliedmods.net/showthread.php?t=319174

And for the timeline, I don't believe we have a timeline ATM.

Awesome! Thank you so much!

As far as the project goes, I know it isn't really possible to put a percentage on things, but do you all see it as still being early in development of this new version, or running farther along toward what you intend the final product to be?

I ask because although I know using the repository files is not a stable way to handle things on a production server, I'm running on PHP 7.4.x, and I'm getting a TON of errors caused by the current release version lacking the ability to properly handle things that are newer than its own code. If this project is still very far out, I may consider biting the bullet and upgrading to the repository builds to fix this, but if the project is getting closer to a release, I'd rather hold off until something stable is ready.

Either way, I appreciate all the information you have provided thus far, and I'm very excited for the next version to come out! :)

I'm currently running the main branch for my production server, and I haven't been able to spot much of kinks compared to the current release.

Of course, do a backup if you are going to try the latest branch files. For the timeline, @Groruk does all the releases, and I don't think we are on any particular schedule. I'm a little too entangled with school at the moment to contribute as much as before.

I appreciate the information! I will definitely be looking into the main branch's code for my webserver then. That is a huge help!

Are you running the latest game server plugin too, or using the current one from the older version? If so, does it appear to be stable as well?

I can confirm this. Current v1.x branch is stable.
