I'm trying to come up with a way to break up the "monotony" if just going around and repairing / dodging. I suggest a new way for damage to occur to walls:
A lander
The landing lands on the walls, and prepares to detonate. The player must "repair" it to kill it by arriving at its wedge. If the lander gets a chance to "blow up" It'll take out five walls. The wall its on, and the two adjacent on each side.
