- Organizational context (size of organization, number of juniors they hire per year, countries that respondent hires for)
- Expected Knowledge
- Programming Basics (specific languages or any language?)
- Computer Science background (algorithms & data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, etc.)
- Tools (e.g. git)
- Workflow (e.g. testing, generic agile)
- Domain specific knowledge (e.g. web programming)
If our hypothesis in #1 is correct then we should also design our curriculum to meet the expectations of employers towards junior developers. This is particularly relevant for shaping the content of our curriculum, as there is far more material we could cover than we can possibly fit in our available time.
Using a survey is probably the easiest way to reach a large number of employers.
