Challenge 23: What I learnt today:

• Issue:

  • If you spot a problem with the docs, search if an issue already exists.
  • If a related issue doesn't exist, you can open a new issue using a relevant issue form.
  • You can search for an existing issue by narrowing down the search using labels as filters.
  • To avoid conflicts with others working on the same issue, comment on it and say you're working on that issue.

• Git Branching:

  • There are 2 categories of branches :
    • Regular (dev, master, QA)
    • Temporary (bug, hot, feature, experimental, WIP)

• Naming Convention for branches :

  • Start with a group word like bug/WIP (WIP => Work In Progress)
  • Use unique ID
  • Use hyphen or slash as separators
  • Include author name
  • Avoid using all numbers and long descriptive names

• Pull Request:

  • Give your commits and PRs active and descriptive titles.
  • PRs should have a meaningful description.
  • Show your functionality visually, whenever possible.
  • Review PR before assigning it to others.
  • Make sure to sanity-check the changes made in PR.

• I have finally completed all the challenges successfully.
• Thanks to Scaler for organizing it, everyone in the community was helpful during these 30 days.
• It was a great learning experience with Open-Source.
• As I was a beginner to GitHub and I just had the basic knowledge of using GitHub, but due to these challenges now, I can say that I can do fairly complex things with GitHub confidentially.
• I want continue my journey of open source and explore more.
• I am really excited about Hacktoberfest as this will be the first time I will participate.
