Challenge 23 To get started to open source, we should follow some guidelines and those guidelines are provided by the project owner/maintainer. Apart from that there's also some guidelines that we should know and follow to make a valid and meaningful contribution to open source.

• First thing is test or run the project and find issues or bugs in that
• Check if there's an issues already exists for the same or not? and if there isn't any then you should create one, and if there exists then if you wish to work on that you can ask to assign it to you. once you're assigned an issue work on that.
• They may have provided guidelines for contributing to a project, if there isn't any we should follow some standard guidelines.

1. Branch Naming Conventions There is 2 Types of branches Regular and Temporary, regular branches are main,master,dev etc, and Temporary branches are bug, features etc.
2. Give Commits active and descriptive title, because it will help further if there found a situation where you have to go backward and reset to previous codebase then if you have given right and meaningful commit message you can easily find it.
3. Code Quality and Linting Code We should maintain code quality and validate it with linter.
4. Pull Request We should also follow and provide some meaningful description and features lists that we have implemented or bug fixes that we had done. We should also share some examples and some functionality demonstration video or instructions, it will save lots of time of maintainers, testers, QAs, and contributors.

I searched for the issues on GitHub, and I found one issue in which, I have to create templates for issues, and pull requests. I have requested for assignment of issue and I have been assigned the issue.

• Hacktoberfest is now opt-in for maintainers, so only contribute to projects that indicate they’re looking for Hacktoberfest PR/MRs
• Your PR must not be labeled as invalid
• We can open pull request and our pr should be merged from 1st october to 31 october with lable hacktoberfest-accepted

Thanks to scaler academy for the great learning opportunity to learn about open source, it will help me further in Hacktoberfest. I learned a lot of things during open source September challenge. Before this I haven't had a experience of this GitHub and now I learned so much about what exactly is this git , GitHub and why so many people will use this GitHub. I'll be looking forward to participating in Hacktoberfest and also contributing to more open-source projects.
