Clicking "Sign in to Google..." Button Crashes Eclipse #293

Found in GWT Release (e.g. 2.4.0, 2.5.1, trunk): 2.6.0

Encountered on OS / Browser (e.g. WinXP, IE9, FF10): Windows 8.1 x64

Detailed description (please be as specific as possible):

1. Installed Java JDK 1.7 x64
2. Installed Eclipse Kepler 4.3 Release 2
3. Started Eclipse
4. Installed GWT 2.6.0 using update site: 
http://dl.google.com/eclipse/plugin/4.3
5. Restarted Eclipse
6. Clicked the "Sign in to Google..." button
7. A Sign in window popped up then quickly disappeared
8. Eclipse closed/crashed
8. A window was then displayed indicating an error with starting Java:

"Java was started but returned exit code=1"
