Sound Blaster 16 PCI / PCI64 / PCI128

AudioPCI supports various features, among them EAX and DirectSound3D, 4 speaker surround sound
official DOS, Win3x, Win9x drivers
QEMU, Bochs and PCem/86Box emulate it

AC'97

supports 5.1 surround sound
official Win9x drivers, open source for DOS (mpxplay/SBEMU) and Win3x (here)
VirtualBox emulates it

HD Audio

supports 7.1 surround sound,
open source for DOS, Win3x/Win9x (instructions, discussion)
QEMU and VirtualBox emulate it

Latest Nuked-OPL3 supports stereo-extension, 4-ch output
