A real mouse should just work as the emulated mouse in DOS. There is an option 'Input > Advanced > Use Mouse Input' where you can optionally disable the mouse, but it is enabled by default. Make sure you haven't set that option.
What platform are you running RetroArch on? And can you say what input driver you are using by checking the RetroArch menu under Settings
-> Drivers
-> Input
?
What do you mean with "some games where the mouse only works with a gamepad"? Can you say which game it works and which game doesn't?
option 'Input > Advanced > Use Mouse Input' --> enabled Settings -> Drivers -> Input --> X Platform: Raspberry Pi4, RetroPie up to date.
I compiled and installed the Dosbox Pure according to these instructions. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28486/i-hope-we-are-getting-dosbox-pure-at-some-point/22
In Space Quest 5, the mousepointer runs via the gamepad or keyboard. In other games (for example: Scorched Earth), the mousepointer doesn't move at all. In the old Dosbox, the mouse works in all games. I have not found a game where the mouse works for me.
I am having exactly the same problem The strange thing is the mouse worked in championship manager 97-98 initially after second bootup it doesnt work at all in the game yet in the dosbox pure settings the mouse works fine
If I set the raspberry to start emulation station immediately after booting, the mouse works fine.
Closing this old issue for now. If there are still mouse input problems, reply here or open a new issue. Please mention the used front-end and if using some kind of launcher application.
A real mouse is required in many games. I have some games where the mouse only works with a gamepad. It would be good if the right mouse would work here, because control via a gamepad is too inflexible. Is there perhaps an attitude for it?
Best regards
