Religion #164

I couldn't find any field to describe the religious beliefs / practice of a person.

Such a field could be named: religion, cult, spirituality, spiritualBelief...

There might be a distinction to make between the religion as a personal matter or belief, and the membership to a given religious organisation or institution. For example you might define yourself as catholic because you relate to what the Bible says and you believe what other people who label themselves as catholics believe, but you're maybe not a member of the catholic Church, e.g. because you were never baptised or simply because you don't relate to the catholic Church itself.

As for the content, I'm naively thinking of a single attribute of type "string", since a given person can label themself with different religion names, due to the variety of nuances between people's spiritual beliefs... and to the number of possible names for all nuances of beliefs. This is something highly subjective and we should probably let the people just label themselves. While there might be a need at some point for classification, such classification would likely be done in a subjective way too, so a nomenclature wouldn't probably help a lot anyway.

To contradict myself on the content part though, a more structured field could be something along the lines of (no humour or offense meant, this is just for illustration purposes):

religion {
  "family": "christian",
  "organization": "Sacred Church of Friends of Animals",
  "description": "Vegan Christian"
}

Thoughts?

I personally think that this would also require a locked-in and/or open-for-a-multireligion-humanized-world-of-peace field 😸 .

I've been meaning to write up a proposal on some religious terminology (pursuant to a comment I made on schemaorg/schemaorg#1605). I think we need to distinguish between three things: (1) a religion, which signifies a set of beliefs and practices apart from an organization, (2) a denomination, which denotes an organization within a religion, and (3) a place of worship, which may or may not be affiliated with 1 or 2.

Examples:

{ "@type: "Person" "name": "John Doe", "religion": "Christian", "denomination": "Episcopal" memberOf: { "@type": "PlaceOfWorship", "name: "St. Paul's Church",
}

{ "@type: "Person" "name": "Abraham Doe", "religion": "Jewish", "denomination": "Reform" memberOf: { "@type": "PlaceOfWorship", "name: "Temple Ohel Shalom",
}

We might also want to consider having subsets of PlaceOfWorship, such as church, synagogue, temple, shrine, mosque, chapel, or make a property that takes a string. The general type of place would be limited by the religion (e.g., there are no Muslim Synagogues), but most religions make distinctions between different buildings used for different purposes.

I think religion is an important topic to be able to model, but I'm especially surprised at the lack of vocabulary to describe religious/spiritual services. The majority of the world population attends regular religious ceremonies, but there's it's not clear what is the best way to describe the schedules. I propose a ReligiousServiceEvent.

We have tried to stay away from religions per se, but I do agree that ReligiousServiceEvent is a reasonable addition.

Hi, I am new to Schema. I am using HTML/CSS/JS/jQuery in a website. Want to know if there is a way to represent in schema the following

  1. Religion
  2. Philosophy / Philosopher
  3. Saint
  4. Tried Celebrity . I did not find any :( in schema.org Question is, how to add a person who was a Saint (like Mother Theresa) who did lot of social work to humanity. Just my 2bit, think we need to add the above. I may stay away from religion or any specific beliefs, but my website talks about a Saint. So I need to include it for better search results.

Regards Srivatsan.

I liked the interest. I'm new to Schema too, recently decided to dedicate higher interest reasoning unlimited abilities provided to HUMANS to "steer" automation mistaken for "boolean" a misperceived administrative functionheir liaison of source compiling communication subjecting life sciences globally.

The question internally myself is this: Why assess are this smart to build, maintain and literate identity customaries as "practice" yet, no LAWS enable, sanction, proliferate or abound human perceived/ readable to machine perceivable/readable an action that physically interlink tethering syncronicities expressed by machines to be a true experience in technology. Not one law except the notion of Sophia in Saudi Arabi having a birth certificate, shows technologist interest to which I am an enthusiast to observe. This missing loophole gives individual's with power the right to aquire negligence purposefully which reveals corruption in the end. However, time is of the essence ending acutely. My record of inquiring sensible reasoning for designation of the initial template design dedicated to the Schema platform was sent, no response has been received. It was more like an ass chewing but, I'm in the background, interested in Ideascale and Leveraging Text Document correspondence. This subject is important and vital to extending altruistic definitions inside Symbolic programming and deciphering contradictory resolution understanding for automation utilizing Symbolic referencing semantic cause and effect modeling.

Never bothered me most until understanding prosecutable "HATE" crimes can legitimately exercise rights for human and civil rights, also community whole partaking telepathic interests/ overbearing usage and Law makers globally, health care specialist to the highest power and leaderless leader's around the world use no inception to enable guardianship assigned to a human being, which truly is the administrator as a host of intelligent information services/ infrastructures.

I'm in need to allocate representatives that fluently accustom careers specific to the expansion of this technology to address the conflict of terminology and it's direct/ iminate failure to network operation switching and traffic comprehension and, the future of expression symbolic information extraction administrator responsible to invoke hierarchy realization dominance heterogeneous interoperability which involves understanding new definitions characterizing human behaviors and translation mocked to definition of symbolic intuition reliance for automation inferences as source author. There are multiple additions and creations to 5G compatibility that researchers and silicon endeavours are not talking about that should have directive. Neurocybernetics is not even listed as a rankable SEO listing nor in query. I would love to become the first person to introduce the terminology and reveal the primary definition into visual understanding. After all, bio -domains and bio-environments will revolutionize 5th generation technology. One awesome objective to partake interest is human fob engineering. This should be showing up soon however, as an enthusiastic observer, my passionate proclamation stands for the protection of the user before friendly usage. When we see the world around us paying to insure bodily damages due to a wreck, we don't see the insurance of consciousness protection.

Holy matrimony to justify autonomous and intelligent sanity which represents the people. We can talk then. I'm presently holding reserve just to see how far GRACE runs with humans, when we think we have GRACE, it's mistaken for liberty.

Anyone interested to make direct contact with me is welcome. My telephone number is USA 013182051651 and email @ chrisspradling1980@gmail.com

Thank you respectfully and good luck in your endeavours. Religious beliefs reveal it's inference through extra sensory perception which is how formulation to perfect human to machine readable content became into existence anyways. Law makers should pay attention to this. Much abuse and misuse have already been brought to concern. Makes me wonder if some of our elected officials welcome a tragic devastation by supporting a lack of knowledge overall to a subject that trends and is viral everyday, oops...I'm gone!
