A user has setup a demo page that shows paragraph tags in the gallery html code that have been added by ? (theme/plugin): http://wordpress.org/support/topic/only-one-column?replies=9#post-5451405
It's unclear yet what causes the preprocession and make the gallery looking broken. Can't reproduce the problem with default themes from wordpress.
Maybe a valid workaround would be to remove newlines from the html gallery code. But that would make the gallery html code not readable anymore.
