Proximity sensor not working #42

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I am not sure if my proximity sensor is defective or if Android somehow
deactivated it.
However the sensor is not working anymore. In WiMo when the other side is
ending the call the screen goes on. In Android the screen will remain off
forever. Also when the other side is ending the call the screen does not come
on. Power button does not help, I have to remove the battery...

There was dust on the sensor. When I cleaned it the sensor did work. However,
as long as there is dust on the sensor the screen will never ever come on
again, even if the other side does end the call. In WiMo the screen does come
on. I think this should be an easy thing to fix...

in case cleaning does not work (display change): workaround for WinMo
1. HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled = 0 disables HTC caller app, WinMo app
doesn't use prox. sensor
2. disable Auto ScreenLock from settings so that you will be able to see
incoming caller and pickup
in Android
1. shine direct light on light sensor (upper right corner) - will revive screen
after hang-up
2. ask devs to cook android build with prox. sensor disabled
