this issue happens to me too when I made a 'dirty' update (overwrite everything
except system.ext2) from r134 to r167 and from r167 to r169. with a clean
install never had this issue.

When I try to create a new APN or modify an existing one it says that process
"com.android.settings" has been closed.

I also face that issue. By the way I checked the telephony.db files from the
Fix3G.rar compared to the telephony.db file in r169 -> They are absolutely the
same? Is this correct?

Attached I did a "adb.exe logcat".
It is from booting Android until 1st process crash, reentering PIN and then it
process crashed 2nd time. I hope this helps the devs to analyze the error.

Reinstalled with PIN disabled and the problem persists.
I tried to autoconfigure the APN with USSD code(*120#) and it says that
autoconfig is not available for my phone model "HTC HDMINI", maybe because the
OS is different.
I see that my mobile network operator is ussualy set to "Vodafone ES" and i
don't use Vodafone. I tried to search mine, but only 3 appear
(Movistar,Vodafone,Orange), and i use "Euskaltel". I noticed that when I boot
it with the SIM a message appears in the notification area saying that my SIM
has changed, press here to change settings. If I press it process
"com.android.settings" closes.

If the problem still exist after the fix, try to change the language of your
android to English. I have T-Mobile and had my language set on Dutch. My
process "com.android.settings" kept failing. Changing my language setting fixed
the problem. Don’t forget to reboot android after you changed the language.

i had the same problem. I solved installing the app "APN restore & backup", and
then "delete all APN". After this "add APN" and put in the settings off your
telephone company and never see the process"com.android.settings"

APN Restore and Backup says: "cannot delete read only files".
Changed language and reinstalled for 120 times with different config and the
process still keeps closing.

I have the same problem that has ino20 ... @ gmail.com, with the same symptoms.
Android identified as my operator data the company Pepephone, when my real company is EUSKALTEL. I think the problem is that Pepephone and EUSKALTEL use both the Vodafone network and can be an error in the identification (MCC / MNC?)
Anyway, I can not change the data, to put the data from my operator.
Thank you.

In the file "telephony.db", MCC/MNC 214/06 is Pepephone operator. EUSKALTEL
operator has the same MCC / MNC, but with the following information:
Name: Euskaltel Internet
APN: internet.euskaltel.mobi
Proxy: <Not set>
Port: <Not set>
Username: CLIENTE
Password: EUSKALTEL
Server: <Not set>
MMSC: <Not set>
MMS Proxy: <Not set>
MMS Port: <Not set>
MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 214
MNC: 06
Authentication Type: PAP or CHAP
APN type: default
Is it possible to add the opeator EUSKALTEL to the file "telephony.db"
Thank you.

Hi everybody. At first, sorry for my english.
My problem is the same problem with pepephone. I put the 3g fix after
installation without the sim card. Android recognices the pepephone conection
(because i can call everybody...) and tries to connect when open a browser or
use a program who need an internet conection, i´ve noticed that in the simbol
of 3G conection with two arrows, only appears active the up arrow, but the down
may be off ever. I tried two download the apn list whith apn backup&recover to
my sd card and edit it looking for pepephone conection (in pepephone´s forum
says than the name conection is gprsmov.pepephone.com).
I´ve changed it, save, and delete de apn and restore the modified backup and
the problem isn´t solved (of course i tried after and before restarting
android).
I don´t know what else do...
A lot of thanks :)

you have noticed the 3G symbol but the downstream arrow is never lightened ?
check hidden menu: *#*#4636#*#* take a look at connection infos.
also please try different applications to test internet connection. I.e.
Browser, google maps etc and give feedback.

Yes, the downstream arrow is never lightened.
In hidden menu i look two strange things:
Actual Net: blank
GPRS Service: disconnected
i´ve noticed when i starts android always have a system message who sais that
"there is a new sim inserted, press accept to continue". Not to say i dont
insert another sim, always the same. When i press accept the tipical message
than "proccescom.android.settings may close".
What do you want me to look in the hidden menu apart?
regards.

Hi everybody. Yesterday i made a test with another hd-mini of a friend, and i
think i´ve solved the problem.
Now, i´m going to describe you the steps who still works in two hd-mini.
Install photon without SIM card, when you´re in android, make the installation
tutorial.
Restart windows, apply the 3g fix, and start android again.
Download in market APN Backup & Restore. Make a Backup of APN and shutdown
android. Put the SIM card, start "winmo" and start android.
Open APN Backup & Restore. Delete all APN and after restore the backup you made
before.
Try it...
Regards.

easyest solution for me so far:
-use program above to delete APN settings.
-then open APN definitions on the phone and add your settings manually by
pressing menu key and "add new"
(im sure you can find find on the web)
thats it.
(cant believe the time lost on this...

quick note:
if you reboot the device, you need to delete the apn and input it manualy again.
restore wont work.

Similar issue after installing the new Final andriod software that you have
recently released:
1) If I use juice defender ultimate to control my mobile data and wifi, then
the mobile data would never turn on at all (so no 3g would work).
Solution: Stop juice defender from controlling 3g and then power cycle the
phone. this was the only quick fix that I found.
2) Some app like the 3 UK app wont work because it keeps stating that it needs
three internet on the phone, even if the phone is on mobile internet with 3G.
3) Very serious problem is that the phone when on chrging, the touch screen
doesnt respond well. a single key press on the on screen keyboard causes 2 or 3
charaters to appears in the box.
eg: when i try to type the pass word to unlock the phone from sleep, a single
key press results in two or 3 numbers to appear at same time.
Also when i try to scroll the program menu, even a slight touch cause a new
program to open up even if I havent selected it.
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN THE PHONE IS CONNECTED TO CHARGING CABLE.
Please suggest some solutions for the above three problem,
Also can I use an 8gb sdhc micro sd card on the phone for running android.
Thank you

Finally managed to fix the problem.
I used the APN restore and backup to delete the APN list.
The error that said "cannot delete readonly database" can be evaded
deactivating the phone radio using the hidden menu *#*#4636#*#* then just
delete the APN data, restore it(if you want) and introduce the new APN data and
then reactivate the radio.
In my case even if my phone company is "Euskaltel" I found that "Euskaltel" is
a virtual operator that uses Vodafone network, but mcc-mnc are 214-08 and not
214-06(the last one is vodafone)but still works fine.

Hello. I think i do everything you say but i still got the error "cannot delete
readonly database". When i deactivate the radio in the hidden menu nothing
different happens when i try to delete apn databases with APN backup and
recover. I am with pepephone, and if i go to the APN menu, pepephone appears,
but if i activate it says: process "com.android.settings" has been closed. How
i can delete databases? Anyone can help me?

The only thing that worked for me was:
1. I used "root explorer" app
2. I entered to "/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases" folder
3. Then I deleted telephony.db file
4. Restarted my device.
5. Everything went back to working fine..
