Qt4 will be removed from Debian #13

Hello,

we just received this bug report, stating that Qt4 and all its dependencies will be eventually removed from Debian. It means that we should either accept that viva gets removed, or port it to Qt5.

What's your opinion? What would be the best option?

Thx, Mt

Considering that we are no longer developing viva, I think it is wise to abandon it as is. We could of course face the upgrade to QT5, but I'd need a good reason do follow the recipe (https://wiki.qt.io/Transition_from_Qt_4.x_to_Qt5). We'll come up instead (quickly if necessary) with modern alternatives based on data science tools. Perhaps @alegrand could give an opinion about this as well.

Ok, if so, I'll ask to remove viva from Debian right away. If I find again how to do so :)

Hello,

I was advised in Debian to take the time to package the replacement of viva before asking for its removal. This sounds meaningful :)

We'll discuss it in November when we meet.

Bye, Mt.

So, what's the status of this one? Should I remove viva from Debian? Should we remove it from github? Thanks,
