Created #567 to move homepage's "all events" button to left rather than center alignment
[frontpage image][final "launch!" blog post link] ScholarsLab.org enters a new phase! Design & content overhaul, and migration from WordPress to Jekyll (#mincomp!) Read about our goals & thinking that went into the site redesign: [link]
[image] New FAQ scholarlab.org/about:
The whole SLab contributed! and @kbdonnally @martofmiller @jeremykboggs @Zoe_LeBlanc @walshbr @rondauva @mossiso @Shane_et_al @literature_geek & Beth Mitchell put in significant extra effort on the site’s design, coding, content, project management, documentation
Highlighting DH designer-developer @kbdonnally's leadership+labor: her thinking+work gave the renewal coherent focus—making the lab more accessible & supportive of folks who might not otherwise feel part of our community. Instrumental in imagining new site, seeing it through.
[Library's lab image] Not our goal: site looks "new". Goal: articulate our updated mission, values, expertise, fit into the @UVALibrary team => motivate changes to SLab site look/use. New homepage text summarizes what we are & do:
[image][image] We are a community for experimental scholarship. Explore with us: We're foremost a space for learning together—about anything—by trying stuff. Think of us as friends+colleagues who can help you teach yourself new ways of approaching your interests.
[image] What we do [1/2]: We're the @UVALibrary's community lab for the practice of experimental scholarship in all fields, informed by digital humanities, spatial technologies, & cultural heritage approaches.
[image] What we do [2/2]: We offer mentoring, collaboration, & a safe space for anyone curious about learning to push disciplinary & methodological boundaries through new approaches.
This isn't a finished project; lots more to do on the site, starting with tackling accessibility barriers & researching+crediting collaborators on past projects. Ping us w/suggestions, people who should be credited on projects, etc. (or PR https://github.com/scholarslab/scholarslab.org)
