Server Questions #8

Hello✌️ I would first like to say thank you so much for making Stream My Audio! I have been testing it to broadcast a live synthesizer performance and I love it. The only issue is sometimes the program will close on its own (like a disconnect). And also sometimes it seems like the server is down and my stream doesn’t work. Any reason this might be happening? I would love to contribute (even more per month than whats listed) but I would like to invest in Stream My Audio only. Is there anyway I can add monthly funds to Stream My Audio? The main issue I am having is reliability. Great job though … awesome product/service ♥️

Hi, thanks for the kind message.

The server for streammyaudio is shared with many other services: https://schollz.github.io/upptime/ There is a small amount of downtime because sometimes one of these many services brings down all of them and there is a small delay (~seconds to ~minutes) to bring them all back up again.

The reason I do it this way is because servers cost money and currently streammyaudio brings no money. So I host streammyaudio on this server that is paid for by a few of the other services that run on the same machine.

If streammyaudio made $10/month I could host it on its own machine which would undoubtedly increase its uptime and reliability. If you become a monthly subscriber at any level I would use that money for streammyaudio: https://github.com/sponsors/schollz

Wow, thank you for the quick response. I just became a monthly subscriber for $10 and I will gladly add more funds to help you w/ Stream My Audio. At the moment, how many listeners can be on simultaneously?

Hi Marty, thank you so much for the sponsorship! That will go a long way to securing the server for everyone. As for number of listeners, I'm not sure. It is limited by bandwidth on the server which should be pretty high. If you have any trouble with number of listeners though let me know and I would be happy to troubleshoot it.

Hey Zack,

I do have one last question … Do you have a ETA on when Stream My Audio will have its own server? I use it quite often for personal use all w/ minimal issues but I am planning an event Wed June 14 & Thur June 15 and just wanted to be aware of all of that before the show. It's already switched over! Its on a dedicated server now so should minimal interruptions.

Hey Zack,

I am still having server issues with Stream My Audio here and there. I was hosting an event June 14 & June 15. Both @ 11am. Stream My Audio worked great for the first day but then around 11am (CT) for the 2nd show … it seemed like the server was down. It would not connect or start @ all. I also use ListenTo by Audiomovers, so that was my backup for Stream My Audio that I used for the 2nd show. Any reason this happens? This also happens randomly when testing things as well. It’s not often but it does happen and unfortunately reliability is the key feature we’re looking for. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks again,

Thanks for the message. I've looked into it and can't find anything on the streammyaudio server side. The logs all look good and the website has had 100% uptime for the past 30 days.

What tool are you using to connect to the website? I wonder if its something on the client side I can diagnose.

So I’ve had issues both w/ the streammyaudio link and with a Wordpress website linked to streammyaudio.

Both are not active right now but I’ll try to record a video when it happens again so I can send that to you.

Oh maybe I misunderstood the question … I am using the Windows application to connect to the website. It runs smooth 90% of the time. There’s just random moments where the music either stops or the application closes. it feels like the server crashes but maybe that’s not what’s happening. I’m monitoring with multiple devices to make sure it’s not the internet or the device I am using.
