Yet another openload.co issue #29

These guys are relentless when it comes to attempts to circumvent ad/popup blockers, especially since their popups are the sort that hijack browser alerts and basically freeze your entire browser telling you Microsoft is demanding payment or some similar nonsense. Typically, you need to kill the browser process in Windows.

Anyway, I would like to boycott them on principle, but they're everywhere, and on a bunch of sites I use. They just implemented some new method, which must be some sort of check for popup blockers. If detected, media fails to play. I tested with PBs and Poper-Blocker, and it sabotages media with either enabled. Whitelisting in Poper-Blocker allows media to work, but whitelisting in PBs does nothing. You need to completely disable the extension.

They've definitely gone too far, because media also fails with Lastpass enabled. It must be causing some sorta false positive. If you use it, it'll need to be disabled to test. I can't imagine they can leave their ani-popup-blocker that jacked up, but you never know.

Disregard for now. Maybe they were experimenting, but it's back to normal. I'll reopen if it returns.

Reopening because they appear to have rolled it out again. Best case scenario, there would be a workaround. At the very least, whitelisting should work. Their popups can be blocked with adblock filters.

Whatever garbage detection method they're using is still throwing a false positive for Lastpass as well.

They currently have reverted to not self-sabotaging media. I'm leaving the issue open this time though, because there's a 50/50 shot it'll be in place when you ever get around to investigating. Not to mention I'm beginning to formulate a conspiracy theory that they actively track any adblocking discussions regarding their site and attempt to screw with it in real time. They are the worst.
