mandrillapp.com should probably also be by default on the whitelist_clients as it uses tons of different servers and the mails get delayed for much longer than they should...

What hostnames should be whitelisted?

IIRC that would be .mandrillapp.com and .mcsv.net

here are two examples:

mail128-33.atl41.mandrillapp.com
mail50.us4.mcsv.net

The networks they use to send out mails are listed here: https://mailchimp.com/about/ips/
