Simplify SVG logo #21

Open stefanv opened 1 year ago

There are some remnants of the design process, overlapping polygons etc.

I guess we already did this, at least for the one in the scientific-python.org repo. @jarrodmillman is that the definitive version? logo2

I attach a minified version of that logo, down from 8070 bytes to 4663 bytes. It does give up the layers information stored by Inkscape, though, so I think a good compromise is this version exported by Inkscape as "Optimized SVG", removing meta-data but keeping layer names at 5126 bytes:

I did notice that there is a very thin little space between the edge of the path and the edge of the logo; should we align those to get rid of it?

Back up to 9000 bytes, but in this version I corrected the minor flaws I found: non-symmetric horizon that did not align with sky nor join smoothly with tree. Trimmed back white ground that was sticking out (still not perfect, I see from rendering on dark background). logo3

Let's go with the version in https://github.com/scientific-python/scientific-python-archive/issues/21#issuecomment-1248766757

I reworked the drawing to use circles and other basic primitives, thinking it would improve the situation, but despite being theoretically better, the original still renders best :man_shrugging:
