Works are splitting, but there are errors in the split.
PROBLEM A:
I found at least one example of a work that was uploaded during the big OAI feed import (from the adl:book set) that split but not all pages created child works.
Page 2 in the viewer is not page 2 in the document, which you can see if you download the PDF and compare. The PDF is first in the Items list:

This work uploaded in the adl:book set and the viewer shows 84 split pages, which is the correct number of pages in the work. However! Look in the viewer and you see that page 30 of the original book shows as page 2 in the viewer. Pages 3 and 4 in the viewer jump to pages 11 and 12 in the original book. In short, the PDF split, but the child pages do not match the order or actual pages present in the parent PDF.
