Performance issues with content & collections #831

Over the weekend (post-Cloudflare...could this be related?), users reported issues with our production site. Direct links to collections are not opening. Only error messages load. And while the site interface is responding quickly, actual content (images in the UV or thumbnails) take so long to load that many people wrote to us and said the material wasn't loading at all. I have not seen any content fail to load. I do see it take a minute or more to render in the UV. Thumbnails load as broken icons eventually.

@KatharineV So far I'm unable to understand the cause of this behavior, so an explanation will have to come later. However I've since redeployed production and fcrepo. I am able to open the linked collections above and see thumbnails now.

We will continue discovery work to understand the why, in order to implement a more permanent solution. Could you let me know if you're still experiencing issues?
