Add basic features #3

Most obvious:

apply (apply to existing signal)
generate (generate an array)

Maybe these should be separate modules. Would like to add a couple symmetry options that shift around the i and N variables to achieve subtly different results, but not sure how necessary that is. It's totally irrelevant for a signal of any appreciable length.

I don't like everything about the API, but yeah. Gonna go with it for now.
