The information is outdated, the final version of Boost.Histogram that was released with Boost had already the same convention as ROOT, but the earlier versions followed a different convention. Both have pros and cons.

Right, this was out of date! (We should probably archive Aghast at some point, to avoid confusion.)

I don't understand the pre-commit failure, but your PR only changes a README, so I'm going to merge it anyway.
