Seeking maintainers #248

Open wdm0006 opened 4 years ago

wdm0006 commented 4 years ago

Hello all. First, thanks for checking out and participating in this project. I started it a few years ago and with the help of many got it into a pretty nice state. When I ran out of time to maintain it actively @janmotl took over the reins and built into what it is today.

Now with #247 in mind, I think it's time we grow the maintainer team and find some folks to lead category_encoders into it's next phase.

With that said, if you're interested in being a contributor, let me know.

-Will

Hi Will, I recently commited to the repo for the first time and I'd be definitely be interested in doing more. @janmotl @wdm0006 What would be the way to go forward?

Best Regards, Paul

Hi Will thank you for the great work, I would be interested in participating. Specially if we can release the current repo faster, as I find CVwrapper to work properly when installing from it and not when installing release 2.2.2 .

nxorable commented 3 years ago

Thank you, @wdm0006 Any luck with the search for maintainers?

wdm0006 commented 3 years ago

Haven't been in touch with the project for quite a while but would like to appoint a new maintainer if there is interest (@PaulWestenthanner, @nassimtaleb or @nxorable), let me know if you'd like to.

Hi Will, I think I could do some work in the next couple of months. I guess starting with reviewing the quantile encoder #303 makes sense, does it?

Sounds great, ill add you to the org. I'd like to do a release here soon but need to work out an issue with stale pypi accounts

nxorable commented 3 years ago

Thanks guys for getting this going again. If I had more time, I would love to contribute, though my time is already spread too thinly

I don't mind joining if that's still actual. It looks like the project is in need indeed.

Hi Valdimir, Contributions are always welcome. There are a couple of issues tagged with 'good first issue'. Feel free to work on one of them (or come up with other improvements that you think the project could benefit from).
If you need some help getting started or need some clarity on some of the details of an issue just comment (and maybe tag me)
