When u learn a new topic (complex and tougher) then the very first reading/listening u wont understand it fully ,
after that u also use it pradctically
then again relearn it next day or after a break, then u will undestand it in more details

if after first class is finished then if u make a note of what u ahve learnt , try to recollect it as much as u can then make points out of it
ask questions

what were the various topics - make list of topics
then write as much as u can write about each topic
then do practicals start from basic now whatever u have learnt
