I don't have the program configured to log to any persistent location. I can think of two easy options, however.
/mnt/us/weather/bin/update_weather.sh
and look at the output.2>/mnt/us/weather.log
to the end of it. Then, after the program runs, you should see a file in the root of your Kindle's USB storage with the output. https://github.com/scolby33/weather_kindle/blob/4d21c55b56e87343fe0a05fb92b5680f5535aac0/src/weather/bin/update_weather.sh#L25I haven't tested these ideas, so they might not be perfectly correct or even helpful, but whatever the results are, post them here and we can continue troubleshooting from that point.
I'm having the same issue. When running that script I get the following ...
mv: cannot rename 'var/cache/weather/weather.png': No such file or directory
Usage:
download_weather.py [-r | --rotated] [-t | --template ] [--]
While measuring IDATs in var/cache/weather/weather_out.png pngcrush caught libpng error: Read Error
Could not find file: var/cache/weather/weather.png
Any ideas please? Cheers
Looks like I was a little sloppy with error handling back when I wrote that. I'll annotate the output you posted to see if we can track down the problem.
mv: cannot rename 'var/cache/weather/weather.png': No such file or directory
Don't worry about this: it's expected for the first run.
Usage:
download_weather.py [-r | --rotated] [-t | --template ] [--]
download_weather.py [-r | --rotated] [-t | --template ] [--]
download_weather.py [-r | --rotated] [-m | --metric] [-t | --template ] (-k <accuweather_key> | --key <accuweather_key>) [--]
download_weather.py [-r | --rotated] [-m | --metric] [-t | --template ] [--] <city_id>
download_weather.py (-h | --help)
download_weather.py --version
This is the output of the weather download Python script when it wasn't passed the proper arguments. We should look at your weather_config.sh
file.
Error reading SVG:rsvg_handle_fill_with_data: assertion `data != NULL' failed
While measuring IDATs in var/cache/weather/weather_out.png pngcrush caught libpng error:
Read Error
Could not find file: var/cache/weather/weather.png
Since the weather download script didn't run, the rest of this is expected.
Two things to try:
/bin/sh -x update_weather.sh
and report back the output. Specifically, I'm interested in the line containing the call to download_weather.py
. It's possible the wrong arguments are being passed somehow, and it would be useful to know exactly what those bad arguments are.
Hello I am still facing Weather Image Unavailable.
How shall I troubleshoot ?
I have already tried with and without metric option and from the gov provide, accuweather and wmo providers without success.
I have of course ensured that I have access to internet from the kindle as I can browse internet with the experimental browser.
Thanks a lot,
Sam
