Style & UI refresh #5

There aren't many moving parts, so we can be deliberate about the style.

Let's use this issue as a ground for sharing inspiration/heroic designs from dribbble or wherever and see what kinds of *-ui pegs we can fit into these holes.

This ticket encompasses a ton of restyling.
