Why all visualizations are very low-resolution and very pixelated.
What can be done to visualize in hi-resolution?

I'm using Windows 7.
Processor: Intel Core i5-3450 CPU @ 3.10Ghz
Memory: 8 GB DDR3

Hi jgome, what version of ElectricSheep do you use? The codec used was upgraded 
some time ago and the resolution was upped a bit so make sure you use the 
latest version.

The sheep are essentially short video clips and are thus created with certain 
resolution (currently 800x592 pixels). They may appear low-res if you have a 
large screen although the codec used (h.264) does a good deal of work to smooth 
the video out. Mind you, it's a better codec and resolution than what is used 
for regular DVD movies.

At any rate, I'm afraid there is nothing you can do on your end to increase the 
resolution used. Creating higher-res sheep would require more processing power 
and especially higher server bandwidth, which is a significant factor as far as 
costs are concerned. ElectricSheep is still free (as in free beer) to use and 
will hopefully stay that way for the time being.

I'm quite new to the electric sheep realm. So essentially the screensaver 
element works to have people vote what's visually appealing and it also offers 
rendering power. So if I were to start making sheep would I use my computer as 
well as other's computers to render my electric sheep? In essence how would I 
go along in creating very high resolution electric sheep for personal use, 
(visualizing music is the core element towards wanting to create personalized 
sheep)...

First off - awesome project! I love the concept and the images are beautiful.

Unfortunately the quality is quite poor; 800x592 video scaled up to (in my 
case) 2560x1440 looks awful. Are there any plans to increase the resolution?

I certainly understand and empathize with the issues regarding bandwidth and 
storage, but with so many participants, wouldn't a peer-to-peer model be 
viable? This could both significantly reduce operational costs and allow for 
higher resolution sheep in the future.
