You are not agile when you must do something. :-) Should is just a tip, that it's probably better to follow it, but it's always up to you.

Perhaps we use the @sandimetz rule here? If you convince your pair (or someone else on your team) that you can break a best practice. Agile + Testing are core to the Ruby community, and core to most communities once they've matured to a point. There's of course scenarios where it can excessive (prototyping before you know what you're building, hacking around etc).

IMHO, if this HDD is a spec, then it shouldn't be tips; it should be requirements that must be met in order to satisfy the needs of the manifesto.
