What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.When I do a screencast video, I hold a required key down longer than 
technically required because otherwise a user may not notice that keypress at 
all.

But key-mon shows for example "YYYYYYYYY" and not single "Y".

So I request an option to disable that in this software instead going to system 
preferences for that.
Or a "delayed" key up showing would be even better. Let's say that I hold down 
a key for 200 milliseconds but the program would show it for 2 seconds or as 
specified.
