I like the idea of downloading icons and banners, it would make it feel more like the ROMs you add are 'real' Steam games. Someone had previously asked about putting icons on ConsoleGrid as well, I just wasnt sure if there was enough demand for it (as it would require a lot of effort on my part for ConsoleGrid). That is definitely something I could do though.
Setting the icon will be trivial, the big issue for that is where I will store the icon on the disk. Previously, I used a folder inside of Application Data
, so I may do that again for storing icons. As for backgrounds, I'm not really sure how I would set those. I will have to look into where Steam stores it's screenshots.
I've been creating grid icons for SNES games (I've only done A, mind you) that I have uploaded to ConsoleGrid that have a unifying theme, using a simple SNES icon and the original box art. However, Steam also has a small square icon per game, for me this is currently 900 ZSNES logos, but you can change them in the Steam menu and I was wondering if this is a feature you could also add to Ice, so that when it automatically downloads the grid icon it also adds the list icon.
Also, if you take a screenshot through the Steam wrapper in game, then it uses this as the background picture in the Steam library. I was wondering if there would be a way to make these also download with Ice so that people don't have to go through screen capturing all their games.
