Instance - Dire Maul - North - Courtyard key #494

Open Bilbo79 opened 9 years ago

Bilbo79 commented 9 years ago

Jan 5, 2015 report: It appears that some of the patch went live today on Starix. Many things are changed in Dire Maul. I do not see the Changelog post on Forums though.

Name: Ocholoco Account Name: Bilbo79 Map & Area: Dire Maul North (Fengus courtyard) How to replicate the bug: Kill some ogres in the area What happens:

a) The Courtyard key has about a 1 in 500 chance of dropping off the Gordok Brute. But we got one on our first Tribute run.

What should happen:

a) This may be nothing. We may have been extremely lucky. I doubt it. If it does not happen on the next 499 ogres, then we will leave it up.

Located on WoWHead Map (if applicable): DM:N Fengus courtyard Source (proof, if applicable): Personal Experience

I do not see a reason why the key should drop from any brutes or mages at all.

The Inner Courtyard Key should only drop from Mol'dar. There is a problem with it though. If the person who looted the key dies before reaching the Inner door, the key is removed from their keyring. This should only happen if you leave the instance while alive.

Tobschinski commented 9 years ago

When is the key removed exactly?

Deviastarix commented 9 years ago

I can't say for sure, Tob, other than the fact that I saw the key being looted after killing him. Two people looted him, and one got the key. I didn't note which one of them took it, but it was definitely picked up. We wiped before the ramp after Slip'kik due to not getting an eye down quick enough, then when we reached the Inner door, I asked whichever one had the key to open the door. Both said they had no key. I told them to double check, as I had seen one of them pick it up, but neither had it on their keyring. I had to sub my rogue in to open the door. Even if I had looted it myself, as I would have had I not seen it being picked up, I wouldn't have found out till I reached the door, so I can only presume it was when we wiped. I'll see if I can persuade a couple of people to test it out again by just looting the key & doing a kamikaze on the next pack. It should then disappear when whoever has it dies if we don't res inside (or maybe even if we do. will check that too).

I have now checked this out. Once the key is looted from Mol'dar, it appears in your keyring, as it should.

After looting it, I went on a suicide mission, died, and released. The key was still there until I reentered the instance, at which point it was gone, so it disappears at the instance portal on releasing & running back. I presume if I had taken a res inside, it would still have been there, but I didn't check that one out. I may do that next time we're there just to make sure, but I think it's more likely that it's being triggered by entering the instance rather than death & res inside.
