Over on micro.blog John Philpin is blazing his way through News Products. I said I would help him get through it today. I wrote a blog post just now with some tips for John. This thread is to answer any questions that come up for him or anyone else.

I'll add some notes below, and if you have questions about News Products, this is the place to post them.

Here's a list of the OPML source for news products I have running now with a link to the running news site.

Now that I feel like I'm finally back from the living dead 😀 I'm really excited about Feedland as a platform and Drummer as my toolbox! I'm looking at creating multiple news products around specific topics so I plan to live in Drummer for awhile!

Feedland is becoming very addictive! 😀

I've created a News product using feedland.com, and it is available here: https://feedland.com/newsproduct?username=fjmnotes. The pages/tabs of the news product have an orange XML button. When I click that button, regardless of which tab is displaying, I see an empty page: https://feedland.com/opml?screenname=All&catname=undefined. Looking at the URL it looks like the screenname and catname values are not being passed.

I think that what is expected is a XML document displaying the feeds of that tab. I don't see anything based in the settings or in the documentation suggesting that I am missing something, but is it the case that I have not done something that is preventing the list of feeds from appearing from that XML button on the news product?

@fmcpherson -- thanks for the report. i'll look into this. there's a lot of broken stuff in that area.
