How to

There's a new feature in FeedLand where you can associate an email address with your account.

  1. Choose Connect with email in the Tools menu.

  2. A dialog will appear asking for your email address. Enter it and click OK. It then sends a message to the server which send you an email with a link in it.

  3. Check your email. Click the link. FeedLand opens. You may see your email address flash by in the address bar.

  4. If you want to check to see that it worked, open the JavaScript console and type localStorage.emailMemory. If it worked you should see something like this.

'{\n "emailaddress": "bullmancuso@gmail.com",\n "code": "xxxxxxx"\n}'

If you aren't currently logged on

You may be directed to a dialog that says we're not accepting new members at this time. That's true. But if you already have an account there's a way to log on despite what the message says.

You should see, in the upper right corner of the screen, a message saying Sign on here. Click, it reveals a menu, then choose Sign on Twitter, and it connects to Twitter and logs you in as usual.

Why?

This could serve as a backup in an emergency if Twitter goes down. With this email address in your account, we will be able to connect you to your subscription info and other settings, using the email address to locate the record in the database.

It's important to create that connection as soon as possible, before an outage.

BTW, it's worth noting that your subscriptions are public info, so even if for some reason you couldn't log onto your account you could still access your subscriptions, because anyone can.

For example, my subscriptions are here.

http://feedland.org/opml?screenname=davewiner

You can even get them by category.

I had previously registered my email. At some point yesterday my peronal user feed reverted back to "My Feed" from Gabrielle's Notes and lost all posts there. My News shows my subscriptions but I lost all categories and my bookmarks are gone.

When I tried to post to my personal feed, I get error access toekn not valid.

@moosebegab -- let's make a list of things that need to be restored and get them back for you.

but first of all be sure you're accessing this site:

https://feedland.org/

the error message indicates to me that you're not getting to the actual server.

also what email address are you using?

scripting commented 1 year ago

also be sure to do a hard reload of the page to be sure you're getting the latest version of the client software.

and I cannot get into My Settings. Error says missing email authentication.
