Back up your subscription lists #43

After being away for a couple of hours I came back and tried to reload my News page, and it just hung there, same with every other page. I went to look at the server and it was reading the same feed over and over, and finding the same story and thinking its new somehow. Something is very wrong in the database.

What I did --

  1. I set the option that says "Don't read feeds" on the main server. So there will be no news for the time-being.

Now everything is nice and fast but of course there's nothing new.

What you should do --

  1. If you want to preserve your subscription list, you should back it up.

Then if I have to start the database over, you can quickly resubscribe to the feeds you were subscribed to previously.

I'm not too concerned with this -- it's the area I was last fussing with, obviously something didn't work the way I thought it would.

PS: I have a snapshot of all subscriptions in a JSON file, so in theory no subscriptions will be lost even if people don't back up their feed list tonight.
