Make Gas Fee Reduction A Priority In Scroll Network #470

One of the major complaints from Scroll network users have been higher gas fees especially when it comes to using the native bridge (https://scroll.io/bridge) to send funds into the Scroll network from Ethereum. As an L2 network built by some of the best Ethereum developers, I believe that Scroll has not fully achieved the main aim as an L2 network due to high gas fees as regards the native bridge. These are some of the methods that can be deployed to reduce the high gas fees and have more users on the network. Optimize Smart Contracts. Ensuring that smart contracts are efficiently written and minimal gas used for each tx as this will help in reducing the complexity of the code, eliminating unnecessary functions, and utilizing gas-efficient programming methods.

Applying Proper Layer2 Solutions. When proper L2 solutions such as zk-SNARKs, sharding, or sidechains are implemented, it helps offload transactions from the main blockchain, thereby reducing the overall gas fees.

Block Size Increase This is very crucial if gas fee reduction is to e implemented because when the block size is increased, more transactions in each block and thereby reducing overall congestion of the network which in turn lower the gas fees.

Consensus Algorithms Must be Upgraded Consider upgrading the network's consensus algorithms to improve transaction throughput and reduce congestion, which can help lower gas fees.

Use Gas Fee Estimation Tools Gas fee estimation tools can help predict the cost of transactions. This will help in adjusting gas prices accordingly to optimize for efficiency.

Engage Your Community Lastly, engage your community to get feedbacks on gas fee issues and discuss on valid remedies to reduce gas fees on the network.

IMPORTANCE OF REDUCING GAS FEES ON THE SCROLL NETWORK Here are some of the benefits of having lower gas fees on the Scroll network Increased accessibility: A lower gas fee makes it more affordable for users to interact with the blockchain network, thereby increasing participation and adoption.

Attracts developers and projects: Lower gas fees make it more cost-effective for developers to deploy smart contracts and build decentralized applications on the network, leading to an increase in projects and innovation.

Promotes decentralization: Reduced gas fees can help decentralize the network by encouraging a more diverse set of users and developers to participate, rather than only those with high resources to cover expensive transaction costs.

Encourages more transactions: Lower gas fees incentivize more transactions to take place on the network, which can boost network activity and circulation of the network's native token.

all I’m seeing or observed is the team trying to make it less farmed while encouraging genuine users tho. But atm there’s nothing fun going on with the chain so the gas fees might still be that way. When the fun begins, the gas fees will be looked into ti onboard more users while they interact genuinely and not for the purpose of airdrop but using the tech.
